First ER trip

Katelyn had her first trip to the ER last Monday evening. It was a nightmare. She did not even need to go. We just wanted to take her to the after hours clinic because she was wheezing. Apparently, saying anything about breathing gets you a ticket straight to the ER. We waited for two hours before they even got her vitals. It was miserable. She was definitely in more danger of contracting some illness than from any breathing issues. When they took her O2 level and it was fine, we bailed. They were going to make us wait even longer for a bed! She slept in our room that night, and I took her the next day to the doctor. Turns out she is a big faker and mommy needs to learn to use that nose sucker! Since we were at a family function earlier in the evening, I had my camera. As you can see from the pictures, she was REAL sick! She slept pretty much the whole time.

Our Big Girl!

Katelyn went for her 4 month check up on Thursday. She was 16 1/2 lbs and 26 1/2 in. She is growing like a weed! She is off the charts on height and weight. Her head is on the chart, but barely! Doc also said she should be getting some teeth soon. It's a good thing because she has been eyeing our pork chops! He said she is ready for food, but I am not sure yet.
I went back to school a couple of weeks ago. (That's why I am slacking with posts.) Katelyn was supposed to go to daycare, but my sister and I were able to work it out where she could come to my house and keep Katelyn. It worked out for both of us and I am so happy! It has made going back to work so much easier! She is so happy when I get home (she probably would have been happy at daycare as well, but keeping her in her home right now is so great!). She eats in the morning and I can put her back in bed. I don't have to get her out during her morning nap. It is just a blessing all around!
She has been fussing tonight - maybe from her shots on Thursday, maybe not - and I went up to comfort her. I am still not good at letting her cry it out. Maybe I never will be, who knows, but I was so grateful for this moment. The minute I picked her up, she laid her head on my shoulder and seconds later she was asleep. I sat and rocked her for a few minutes. I thought about how safe I am to her and comforting. To her Brent and I are everything. We provide her with everything. Whatever was wrong this evening, just being in my arms fixed it. It was an awesome feeling. It kind of scared me too, because I also realized that I have to power to screw this kid up royally!! Pray for me-no pray for her!!

New dress

Brent's mom, Bibi, got Katelyn a "first day of school" dress (notice the scissors). Since Katelyn will not be going to school now, she wore it to church this morning. The wet spots are from putting it in her mouth. Since she has figured out how to grab, her favorite thing to do now is grab her clothes and put them in her mouth. Thanks for the dress, Bibi!

New trick?

We thought she was about to roll over. Brent yelled out to me and I ran in the room. We watched for a couple of seconds and then realized that she was just trying to see the TV!

My big girl!

Katelyn is getting so big! She laughs and plays and loves to read books. Here she is holding her rattle. I hold it near her hand and she grabs for it. It is so cute! I can't believe that I am going back to work Monday! How will I ever get through the day without her? I'm glad I have two days to adjust before the kids come back. I'd hate to be a blubbering fool in front of them! I feel a lot better knowing that she won't have to go to daycare. My sister is going to keep her. I can spend my days just missing her rather than wondering if she is getting enough attention or just lying there crying. I know daycares are not really bad, but being a first time mother, I think my imagination runs wild!

The Big Move

We bought a house! I can't believe it finally happened! We talked about it for so long (about two years; in fact it took us less time to have a kid than to buy a house!) and now it has finally happened! There are no new pictures right now because the batteries to the camera a in a box around here somewhere. We are slowly getting settled in. A HUGE, GIGANTIC thanks to all of our family and friends that helped with the move. Thanks to them, we closed at 3 pm last Friday and by that night we had most of the upstairs of the old house moved in the new house. Brent's family drove over from ATL-Thanks guys!!!! My family and our friends spent most of the weekend helping too. We are so grateful to everyone!
